Magdy has been working in the field of pavements and highway materials for the last 30 years and is currently responsible for developing Trimble workflows, which allow for the full integration of asset life cycles for state departments of transportation and local agencies.
Magdy originally came from the AgileAssets acquisition where he served as the Director of Transportation Industry Solutions. He supervised a team of subject matter experts and product owners to support the development and implementation of asset management solutions. Magdy was responsible for advising state, city and county agencies on best practices to modernize asset management strategies, allocation of funds, and overall transportation network performance.
Before AgileAssets, Magdy worked for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for more than twenty years. He held several positions, including the director of the Pavement Asset Management Section, where he oversaw asset management, pavement management, pavement preservation, pavement design and pavement data collection.
Magdy has worked with consulting firms throughout the United States and overseas. He has served on several expert task groups, such as the Transportation Research Board (TRB), where he was the chair for Pavement Surface Properties and Vehicle Interaction. Magdy was also a member of the TRB committee for Pavement Management Systems, and ASTM E-17 for Vehicle-Pavement Systems. He also worked with the Superpave center with the University of Nevada Reno.
Magdy graduated with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University with a specialty in pavements and highway materials in 1996. He has a Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering from the American University in Cairo Egypt in 1990; as well as his Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 1985.
